What Covid-19 Means FOR TCS: Updates
Parents, please check and read emails from TCS regarding school activities, and announcements for the latest updates on this issue.
Governor Pritzker extends "Stay at Home" as well as school closure orders through 4/30/2020. The TCS school facility will be closed during this time.
We just completed Spring Break. Although our school facility remains closed, our remote learning program "TCS Connect!" starts today in full swing. Parents, please read and keep emails from your teachers on how to access Art, Music, Library, and Physical Wellness classes and activities, in addition to regular class lessons and projects.
Governor Pritzker has issued a "Shelter in Place" order for the State of Illinois from 3/21 - 4/7/2020. Our school faciliity will be closed during this time. Also, the Chicago Public Schools issued a statement that they will be closed through 4/21/2020. At this time, it is likely that the TCS facility will be closed for several more weeks as well, for the health and safety of our families and our community at large. We will continue to send updates to families via email on online and at home learning.
Village of Oak Park Mayor Anan Abu-Taleb and the Oak Park Public Health Director Mike Charley have issued an order for residents to "Shelter in Place" from Friday 3/20 - 4/3/2020. As such, the school facility will remain closed during this time.
Update 3/16/2020 - Important Information About Health Alerts at TCS
We are aware of a rumor circulating that a student at TCS has been diagnosed with COVID-19. We have not been informed of any TCS student being diagnosed with COVID-19. If we had been, our policy dictates that we would issue an immediate Health Alert to families.
Our policy has been and remains that whenever a student, family member, teacher, or staff member reports a diagnosis of a contagious disease, we issue an immediate Health Alert. This policy remains in place even though our school facility is currently closed. In particular, if a student or household member receives a diagnosis of COVID-19, please inform TCS immediately so that we can send a Health Alert to the community. Along with issuing the Health Alert, we would follow the Illinois Department of Health's recommendations for next steps.
We urge you to remain calm and trust that we will follow our established protocols and share pertinent Health Alerts as quickly as possible. We are grateful to you for helping us minimize the impact to our community by informing us promptly of any diagnoses of contagious diseases.
