This fall, every class took part in the first adventure of our whole-school expedition, Out Our Windows - Honoring Neighborhoods Through Art & Culture. Together, we journeyed to the neighborhood of Pilsen to explore how art and culture tell stories of history, identity, and resilience.

Students visited the National Museum of Mexican Art, where they experienced the DÃa de los Muertos exhibit. Surrounded by ofrendas - beautiful altars created to honor loved ones who have passed - students sketched, reflected, and asked thoughtful questions about how traditions keep memories alive.

At The Children's School, our social justice focus invites students to "recognize power, privilege, and equity in their everyday lives." Throughout Out Our Windows, we're putting that commitment into action - helping children see how neighborhoods, including our own, hold stories worth honoring and preserving.

As we continue this journey, we're reminded that learning doesn't just happen inside classroom walls. It happens when we step outside, connect with our communities, and listen to the stories around us.
