Welcome to Enthusiasm for Learning...
We are tremendously proud of our wonderful community. Children routinely skip into school in the morning, excited to begin the day. Parents lend their time and expertise to countless school endeavors. Our talented, dedicated faculty is adept at guiding our children to think critically, to ask questions, and to take responsibility for their own learning. Our project-based environment allows children to learn in a way that honors their voices and helps them make sense of the world around them.
Take a look through our website and visit our campus. Learn more about the philosophy of progressive education, about the projects in our classrooms, and about who we are as a community of learners. Be sure to visit our Virtual Tour page for a peek at our facility in action, and for info on scheduling a private tour.
Please contact us if you have questions or would like more information. We look forward to talking with you!
Our mission is to nurture students' innate curiosity and love of learning through democratic practice, emergent curriculum, and hands-on projects, helping students become lifelong problem-solvers and engaged citizens.
Hands-on work and group collaboration nourish multiple learning styles, offering depth and breadth of understanding. Each project incorporates several academic emphases in engaging ways.
Our project topics and the direction of study are driven by the curiosity of the students working individually, in small or large groups throughout each day, week and year.
Democracy in Action
Creating active participants in democratic society, honoring all viewpoints and needs to find innovative solutions to community challenges and problem resolution.
Social Justice Focus
We teach equity, inclusion, and ensuring each person has access to resources they need to thrive within the community -- be it in a school, town or nation.
Our Alumni Say:
“The Children's School gave me a more foundational love of learning that has allowed me not only to succeed but to enjoy what I'm doing.”
- Class of 2010
“I think my ability to work independently and with more freedom is because of TCS. This has helped me in some of my harder classes that expect students to take slightly more control of their academics.”
“I was particularly prepared with skills including critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, group work, self-motivation, and general understanding across academic subjects.”
